North East Solidarity and Teaching (NEST)
North East Solidarity and Teaching (N.E.S.T) is a Newcastle University Students’ Union Go Volunteer Project founded by student volunteers with the support of NUSU staff in August 2016. Established to answer a call from the local community and council to support a recent arrival of Syrian refugee families with English language learning and community integration. Providing a wide range of ESOL , sporting and mental health and welbeing oppurtunities.
By Appointment via a referral form which can be requested via email.

Action Language provides free English lessons to people seeking asylum, refugees, and other migrants unable to access mainstream classes. There are classes in Newcastle, Sunderland and online.

Courses suitable for anyone 16 or over. ESOL courses are for learners who live in the UK and speak English as their second or other language. Our courses will improve your listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. We have accredited courses from Entry Level to Level 2. Some students can have a free place. Aslo ESOL Skills for Life to develop skills for work.
