The Collective Voice of the Region’s Refugee Community and support for refugee and asylum seeker-led community action

Location: Online
Available to: Refugee and asylum seeker community, mobilisers, activists and advocates

The Regional Refugee Forum North East (RRF) is an independent membership organisation created in 2003 by and for community organisations led by Refugees and Asylum Seekers living in the North East of England. Our services are provided Monday – Friday, between 9:00am and 5:00pm.

  • We empower refugees and asylum seekers to take action to support their communities. Refugee and Asylum Seeker community mobilisers, activists and advocates living across the region can join in our activities designed to help turn their ideas into action and build community groups. We offer regular meetings with others who are developing support for their communities; one to one support from our staff who will help develop an action plan; visits to other projects and people who can share their learning; training to help adapt and refine advocacy skills to the UK context; links to networks and resources that can help achieve their vision.
  • We support our members to work together to develop their Collective Voice on issues they identify as a priority. Then to use their Voice to influence decision makers so as to promote integration and equality for all refugees and asylum seekers living in the region.
  • We develop resources for refugees and asylum seekers based on what our members wish they had known when they first arrived in the UK.
  • We deliver training to front line professionals in a range of agencies to help them gain insight, from lived experience, into the particular challenges facing Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children, family resilience and health. The sessions are delivered by our members.
