Hong Kong Welcome Hub
The Welcome Hub works with the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government to coordinate the Welcome Programme for new arrivals from Hong Kong, who are settling in the North East. We work together with local authorities, and voluntary and community sector organisations (VCSEs) to provide support to arrivals from Hong Kong. We provide a range of services, such as:
- sharing key information with local authorities and VCSE organisations, and providing feedback to central government on the issues faced by BN(O)s.
- holing meetings with regional and local partners, to share best practice and better understand the needs of BN(O)s.
- commissioning support for BN(O)s, where they have identified a need for support, such as providing regional training opportunities; integration activities; ESOL support.
- signposting BN(O)s to services and escalating issues when needed.
The Welcome Hub has worked together with partners to develop a North East Welcome Guide for arrivals from Hong Kong, which is available in both English and Cantonese. We have also developed a Hate Crime Guide for Hong Kong BN(O)s, which is available in both English and Cantonese.
