Hong Kong Welcome Hub
At the North East Migration Partnership (NEMP), we work with the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, to coordinate the welcome programme for new arrivals from Hong Kong, who are settling in the North East. We have developed this Welcome Hub to provide information on a variety of services, and access to key resources, that can be used to provide assistance to BN(O)s.
We play an important role in the delivery of the Hong Kong BN(O) Welcome Programme in the North East region, working together with local authorities, and voluntary and community sector organisations (VCSEs) to provide support while integrating into their local communities. We provide a range of services, such as:
- sharing key information with local authorities and VCSE organisations, and providing feedback to central government on the issues faced by BN(O)s.
- holing meetings with regional and local partners, to share best practice and better understand the needs of BN(O)s.
- commissioning support for BN(O)s, where they have identified a need for support, such as providing regional training opportunities; integration activities; ESOL support.
- signposting BN(O)s to services and escalating issues when needed.
We have recently worked together with partners to develop a North East Welcome Guide for arrivals from Hong Kong, which is available in both English and Cantonese.
